The Polytech Museum summed up the results of the “Do you know the history of your alma mater?” competition. This is a team intellectual competition for first to third-year undergraduate and specialist students, dedicated to the history of the university, its traditions, prominent scholars, alumni, and iconic campus locations.

This year, 30 teams participated in the competition. For the students, this became an opportunity not only to test their knowledge but also to look at Politechnic University in a new way: to see behind the familiar buildings, alleys, and auditoriums a long history of the university, of which they become a part from the very first days of their studies.

The competition took place in three stages. In the first, remote stage, participants answered test questions dedicated to the main events, personalities, and facts from the history of the alma mater. The second stage was held in person: teams submitted materials for tickets before the jury members, demonstrating not only erudition but also the ability to argue, precisely and vividly telling about the university’s past. The final challenge was a quest around the Politekh park, where knowledge of history was combined with teamwork, attentiveness, and enthusiasm.

According to the results of all stages, the team “Troika in History” won, scoring 83 points. Its participants, students of IPMEIT Marina Shevchenko and Ulyana Volkova, as well as Sofya Shirobokova from PhysMe, won the main prize — a trip to Kazan.

The second place was taken by the team “Marketing Victims” with a result of 80 points. The team consisted of students of IPMEIT Alina Stupnikova, Lia Abdramano, Alexandra Barabantsev, Anastasia Guseva, Maria Ermolinskaya. The girls will go on vacation to the estate “Kholomki”, where the educational and historical reserve of SPbPU — the estate of Prince A.G. Gagarin — is located.

Third place went to the team “SRUSTeam”, which scored 79 points. The team included students of IKNK Viktoria Zhuravlyova, Kseniya Kiryanova, Varvara Knoroz, Eva Marenko, and Oksana Salabutdinova. The bronze prize winners received branded university and museum merchandise.

Also, the “Boogie-Woogie” team, consisting of IET student Lyubov Yevseeva and PhysMech student Varvara Ozerova, made it to the final. All participants demonstrated a high level of preparation, interest in the university’s history, and the ability to work together.

Head of the Youth Policy Department of SPbPUIvan Khlamovemphasized that such projects are especially important for involving students in university life: The contest “Do you know the history of your alma mater?” shows that the museum is not only a storage of the past but also a living space for communication with students. Through such projects, the students begin to feel a closer connection with the university, better understand its traditions, and see that the history of the Polytechnic continues thanks to their participation, initiative, and interest.

The competition has ended, but the introduction of students to the history of Politeka continues.
