Employees of the Samara group of Rosneft enterprises conducted a large-scale environmental campaign as part of Volga Day. Volunteers collected 9 tons of garbage from the shoreline of the great Russian river and improved favorite recreational spots of the region’s residents.
Activists of “Samaraneftegaz”, Kuybyshev oil production department, Novokuybyshevsk oil production department, Saratov oil production department, Syzran oil production department, Novokuybyshevsk petrochemical company, Novokuybyshevsk plant of oils and additives, as well as the Samara design institute of the Company cleared 3 hectares of coastal territories of the Volga from various household waste. The garbage was sorted and sent for recycling.
Environmental volunteering is an integral part of Rosneft’s corporate culture. Regularly at the Company’s enterprises, campaigns are held for the improvement of public and natural areas, collection of plastic caps, waste paper, batteries. Rosneft also pays great attention to activities aimed at increasing the efficiency of wastewater treatment, development of circulating water supply systems, rational use and restoration of water resources.Thanks to the rational use of natural resources and the implementation of the Company’s ecological programs in the Samara region, a significant contribution is made to the preservation of the Volga’s water resources.
“Samaraneftegaz” implements a comprehensive program for the conservation of natural resources. At the enterprise, the withdrawal of water from surface water bodies to maintain reservoir pressure has been completely stopped – only recycled water is used in production.
At the Novokuybyshevsk NPZ, as a result of implementing an environmental program and measures to conserve water resources over the past few years, the volume of wastewater has decreased by 40%. Over the year, the plant increased the use of recycled water to 90% and reduced river water intake by 12%.
Kuibyshev NPZ and Novokuibyshevsk Oil Refining Company conduct wastewater biotreatment using plants – a phytoremediation technology. The implementation of this unique project at the enterprise serves as an example of introducing environmentally friendly solutions with proven economic and ecological efficiency. The Syzran NPZ is carrying out modernization of biological and physico-chemical wastewater treatment facilities and circulating water supply systems. All enterprise effluents undergo multistage treatment. As of 2025, the indicator of circulating water use in production amounted to 95.4%.
At the Novokuybyshevsk plant of oils and additives, measures are being implemented aimed at saving energy resources, including the rational use of water. Facilities for water recycling have been built and put into operation at the enterprise.
The Samara group of Rossneft enterprises has been conducting systematic work for many years to replenish the water bioresources of the Volga basin. In 2025, employees released almost 370 thousand fingerlings of valuable and commercially important fish species into the Volga water area.
Oil workers of the Company annually take an active part in environmental initiatives for cleaning coastal areas, rivers, and springs, restoring natural sources and improving the adjacent territories, including campaigns such as “Water of Russia,” “Green Spring,” “Springs of the Samara Region,” “Volga Day,” and others.
