The Department of Project Management at the State University of Management celebrated its 30th anniversary. This is an important date not only for the university but also for the entire domestic school of project management: the SUM department is called the first in Russia department that began systematically training specialists in the field of project management.
The history of the department began in 1996 on the initiative of Mark Razu, Doctor of Economic Sciences, professor, honored scientist of the Russian Federation. He is considered one of the founders of project management in Soviet production. Thanks to his scientific school, project management at GUE became an independent direction of training, research, and practical work.
Today, the department continues to develop under the leadership of Irina Brikoshina. Here, the focus is on practice-oriented learning: students work on real project tasks, participate in research, competitions, startup projects, and mentoring programs. The department also develops a digital educational environment, the “PROproject” competition, Upodcast, and its own digital library.
The anniversary event brought together the university leadership, representatives of GUU institutes, alumni, department partners, and experts from the public sector, science, business, industry, construction, and IT. The guests noted the high level of student preparation and emphasized that a strong point of the department is the connection between theory and real project practice.
The department was congratulated by representatives of authorities, science, business, and the expert community: Alexander Biryukov, Deputy Governor of the Oryol Region; Pavel Tamoyan, Administrative Director of the TV and Radio Company “MI R”; Morissanda Keita, representative of the Ministry of Economy, Finance, and Budget of the Republic of Guinea; Roman Balduev, Deputy Prefect of the Eastern Administrative Okrug of Moscow; Ilya Vinokurov, representative of the Analytical Center under the Government of the Russian Federation; Vladimir Yatsenko, head of international public projects; Vladimir Podoprigora, head of the scientific laboratory at REU named after G.V.Pleshanova; Alexander Suglobov, professor and honored science worker of the Russian Federation; Alexander Tovb, president of the project management association “SOVNET”; Yuri Bocharov, representative of the Moscow Confederation of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs. Industrial partners of the department also joined the congratulations: Alexander Chuprin, Alexey Chaikin, and Kirill Kabanov.
A separate event of the meeting was the announcement of the appointment of the deputy head of the department Ekaterina Khalimon as editor of the magazine “Woman and Politics” and ambassador of the international project “Tablecloth of Peace”. At the conclusion of the ceremonial part, the leadership and staff of the department signed the “Tablecloth of Peace” with the words: “Our projects serve the peace-loving policy of a creative Russia!”
The anniversary showed that the project management department of GUU has long held the status of a strong scientific and educational school, develops new formats of work with students and partners, and continues to train specialists who know how to turn ideas into working projects.
