Kourou /French Guiana/, May 19 /Xin Hua/ — The Vega-C carrier rocket with the joint Chinese-European research satellite SMILE /Solar wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer, a researcher of the connection between the solar wind, magnetosphere, and ionosphere/ launched from the Kourou cosmodrome in French Guiana on Tuesday.

It is reported that the satellite has entered the planned orbit, its solar panels have been successfully deployed, and the systems are operating normally, which signifies a significant milestone in cooperation in the field of space science between China and Europe.

SMILE is the first joint project of China and the European Space Agency at the mission level in the field of space research.
