Temporary ban on the export of waste and scrap of precious metals from Russia has been extended for another 6 months – from June 1 to November 30, 2026. The decree on this has been signed.

The effect of the previous temporary ban, introduced in November 2025, ends on May 31, 2026.

Within the framework of restrictions from the country, it will be prohibited to export not only precious metal scrap and waste, but also metals plated with precious metals. The export of electric and electronic scrap and waste, mainly used for the extraction of precious metals, which are important for the country’s domestic market, will also be suspended.

As before, the ban will not apply to the export of cathode antimony in ingots, as well as samples taken from batches of scrap and precious metal alloys exported to refining organizations. At the same time, the mass of one sample should be no more than 500 g in one commercial batch, regardless of the number of such batches under the foreign trade contract.

Similar temporary bans have been introduced since 2022. These measures allow increasing the load on the production capacities of Russian refining enterprises by attracting significant volumes of secondary raw materials containing precious metals for processing and production of precious metals.
