The start took place in HarbinFestival-fair “Made in Russia”, which will be extended until May 21 and will be held simultaneously with the China-Russia EXPO at the Harbin International Trade and Economic Fair site. For the third year in a row, Harbin is hosting the Russian festival, and in total in China, the Russian Export Center (REC, VEB.RF group) has organized six such events starting from 2024, when the first fairs were held in Shenyang, Dalian, and Chengdu.
This year, the exhibition work started already on May 17. Ahead is a week of active business diplomacy. More than 100 Russian manufacturers from 37 regions of the country participated in the exposition. Visitors to the venue can familiarize themselves with a wide range of products, including agricultural products, beverages and dietary supplements, cosmetics and hygiene products, consumer goods, jewelry and souvenirs, as well as services in the tourism sector.
High-ranking representatives of authorities and business from both sides took part in the opening ceremony. Thus, the Chinese side was represented by the leaders of the provinces Heilongjiang and Liaoning, the mayor of Harbin, and heads of trade departments.
Heilongjiang Province (the administrative center and largest city – Harbin) consistently remains one of the key centers of Russian-Chinese trade, where more than 70% of foreign trade turnover is accounted for by Russia.
The festival-fair participants were greeted by the Deputy Chairman of the Government of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko. He emphasized that Harbin is imbued with an atmosphere of strong friendship between the peoples of Russia and China and occupies a special place in the history of the relations of the two countries.
“It is gratifying that holding the festival-fair ‘Made in Russia’ has already become a good tradition. At the start, this initiative was supported within the framework of the visit by the leaders of our countries: the President of Russia Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and the Chairman of the People’s Republic of China Comrade Xi Jinping. The format of such festivals appealed to Chinese citizens and entrepreneurs, and products from domestic manufacturers and the national brand ‘Made in Russia’ enjoy great popularity in China.”In recent years, the volume of bilateral trade between our countries has been steadily growing, the trade infrastructure is developing, conditions for successful business operations are being created. This allows Russian companies to promote their goods, find partners, and explore new markets,” noted the Russian Deputy Prime Minister.
He added that the festival’s goal is much broader than just strengthening business connections. At the venue, you can get acquainted with the famous hospitality of Russia, its achievements, rich history, and cultural diversity.
Dmitry Chernyshenko thanked the participants and guests of the festival for their contribution to strengthening the dialogue between our peoples and expressed special words of gratitude to the governor of Heilongjiang province, Lan Huailin, and the mayor of Harbin, Wan Heshun, for their warm hospitality and high level of event organization, as well as to the Russian Export Center for active assistance to our enterprises in successfully mastering the Chinese market.
The organizers have prepared a rich program: guests can try dishes made from Kamchatka crab, watch the preparation of pancakes and steaks by Russian chefs, attend screenings of domestic animation and master classes on toy painting. Chinese bloggers, who conduct live broadcasts from the festival and introduce millions of users to Russian products, also contribute to the popularization of the goods.
“Russian exports to China are developing dynamically. It is especially important for us that the main driver of growth is non-raw non-energy products. Annual shipment volumes have been steadily increasing since 2021. In 2025, non-raw non-energy exports increased by 18%. Such dynamics and such scales require high-quality infrastructure for promotion, and our festival-fair precisely opens up great opportunities for domestic producers to gain access to the huge Chinese market.”Since the beginning of the first fairs in Shenyang and Dalian in 2024, the participants of the festivals have become more than 500 Russian companies and over 2 million Chinese citizens. In two and a half years, more than 2 thousand business meetings were held at the festival fields, contracts worth more than 15 billion rubles were signed. Such events allow strengthening Russian-Chinese relations, developing trade and economic cooperation, and introducing Chinese consumers to Russian products and culture,” emphasized the CEO of REC Veronika Nikishina.
The festival-fair acts as an important tool for the development of trade and economic cooperation. About 400 negotiations are planned to be held this year. The products presented at the fair are available for order not only on-site, but also through the national store “Made in Russia” and leading Chinese marketplaces.
Representatives of business associations, the head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Aisen Nikolaev, the governor of the Amur Region Vasily Orlov, the head of the Republic of Kalmykia Batu Khasikov, and the Consul General of the Russian Federation in Harbin Sergey Linnik participated in the opening ceremony.
“When talking about sales in the Chinese market, we often think in terms of large batches. But today, a huge additional channel is emerging in the form of a digital platform that completely changes the logistics of selling our products. It is necessary to carry out digital integration of our state systems with the largest platforms in order to provide exporters of agricultural products access to a market of 1.5 billion consumers. The second direction is logistics. We consider it essential to develop multimodal ‘port-to-port’ + ‘door-to-port’ services at the border, which will allow for the creation of a continuous logistical process.”And the third is the creation of new financial instruments. “Delovaya Rossiya,” with the support of partners from the Chinese Chamber of Commerce for Export and Import of Machinery and Electronic Products within the framework of its industry committees, is ready to provide feedback and fine-tune these instruments to the real needs of the manufacturer,” noted the chairman of “Delovaya Rossiya,” Alexey Repik.
REC is implementing a program to promote the national brand “Made in Russia,” approved by the Government of Russia in 2025, aimed at increasing the recognition of domestic products in the global market through the symbol of a bird in the colors of the Russian flag. Festival partners included the Moscow Export Center and Roseximbank. The information partner is “Sputnik-Inform.”
The Russian Export Center (REC, VEB.RF group) is a state institution that supports non-raw non-energy exports. It provides companies from various industries with both financial and non-financial assistance at all stages of entering international markets, including within the framework of the national project “International Cooperation and Export.” Most of the services offered by the REC group are available online on the state digital platform “My Export.” The REC is tasked with the main functions of ensuring and implementing the “Made in Russia” program. The REC group includes the Russian Export Credits and Investments Agency (EXIAR), Roseximbank and the “REC Export School”.
