Yangon, May 16 /Xinhua/ — 14 people died as a result of traffic accidents involving Yangon Bus Service (YBS) buses in Yangon, Myanmar, from January to April. This was reported on Saturday by the state newspaper Global New Light of Myanmar.

It is noted that in order to reduce the number of accidents and ensure the safety of passengers, the Yangon Regional Public Transport Committee (YRTC) has strengthened supervision over YBS bus drivers who violate traffic rules.

Currently, the committee organizes educational seminars twice a month, conducts on-site inspections, and monitors compliance with the rules.

Currently, about 3,700 YBS buses and 7,500 drivers operate under the supervision of YRTC, providing transportation services to approximately 1.7 million passengers daily, the committee added.
