Beijing, May 16 /Xin Hua/ — On May 15, in Beijing, the “Report on the Study of Youth Friendship and Cultural Exchanges between China and Russia” was published, jointly presented by the Russian part of the Education Council under the China-Russia Committee on Friendship, Peace and Development and the Center for Global Public Opinion Studies of the Chinese People’s University.
This report, based on data, reflects new trends in friendly contacts between the youth of China and Russia and serves as a guide for deepening youth exchanges between the two countries, as well as for promoting Sino-Russian humanitarian cooperation.
According to research data, more than 80 percent of Chinese and Russian youth consider Russian-Chinese relations to be friendly.
The report notes that the youth of China and Russia view the relations between the two countries positively, generally perceive the image of the countries to each other favorably, and predominantly look optimistically to the future of cooperation. Friendship and cooperation are the prevailing perceptions among the youth of the two countries regarding Sino-Russian relations.
The data indicate that general assessments of the youth of the two countries towards each other’s countries and the prospects for bilateral cooperation largely coincide, the youth of both countries show a high interest in each other’s culture. Regarding readiness for future mutual visits, the youth of the two countries demonstrate a high interest in visiting each other’s countries. The data also indicate stable and positive support for Sino-Russian friendship from the youth of both countries.
The director of the Center for the Study of Global Public Opinion at the Chinese People’s University, dean of the Journalism Institute of the Chinese People’s University Zhou Yun noted that youth is an important force of Sino-Russian friendship, passed from generation to generation. Promoting mutual understanding and rapprochement of youth, activating educational and cultural exchanges have important significance for strengthening the social and public foundations of relations between the two countries.
Zhou Yun added that under conditions where the development of globalization, digitization, and platformization are closely intertwined, it is necessary to pay attention not only to cooperation in the field of education, mutual visits of students and cultural events within the framework of exchanges between Chinese and Russian youth, but also to the proposal of content and narrative expression in the digital space, so that more and more young people deepen mutual understanding in the process of exchanges, establish friendship in the field of interaction, and cooperation is oriented towards the future.
