Saint Petersburg, May 16 /Xinhua/ — Over 30 years of China-Russia partnership and strategic interaction relations, both countries have newly recognized the value of bilateral cooperation, and the relations between the two countries have acquired a completely new quality. Professor of the Department of Chinese Philology at Saint Petersburg State University, Alexey Rodionov, stated this today in an interview with Xinhua.
“Today China is much more important for Russia than 30 years ago. And Russia today is also much more important for China than it was at the very beginning of the 21st century,” noted the Russian expert. In his opinion, in the interaction between the two countries there is a constant search for new forms of cooperation and points of contact, and this process affects not only the economy and politics, but also the spheres of culture, education, and science.
As A. Rodionov emphasized, the stability in maintaining friendly constructive relations between Russia and China serves as an example for other countries and is a serious stabilizing factor on the world stage. “Russia and China are proponents of a multipolar world where the rights and interests of other countries are respected and taken into account, and the security of one country is not built at the expense of another’s security. We cooperate in a multilateral format, which indicates that the interests of the majority of the world’s population align where Russia and China stand: in fairness, equality, and dialogue,” the interlocutor of Xinhua noted.
According to the expert, a good tradition of developing relations between the two countries has become the holding of cross-year cooperation in various fields. Thus, 2026-2027 will become years of cooperation in the field of education. “Within the framework of these years, several hundred events are planned, which will be held by Russian and Chinese universities. It is desired to believe that the exchange of information between our countries in the fields of science, culture, and education will only strengthen,” said A. Rodionov.
He expressed hope that the upcoming visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to China would bring practical results both in the political sphere and in the areas of cultural exchanges and education.
