In Kazan, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum,” a working meeting was held between Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Alexey Overchuk and the Minister of Industry and Trade of Afghanistan, Khadji Nuruddin Azizi.

The parties discussed in detail the prospects for strengthening multifaceted practical cooperation, which is mutually beneficial, with an emphasis on increasing trade turnover. Special attention was given to promising projects and initiatives in key sectors of cooperation, including energy, transport, agriculture, healthcare, and geological exploration.

Aleksey Overchuk and Khadzh Nuruddin Azizi noted a significant increase in Russia’s trade with Afghanistan based on the results of the first two months of 2026: turnover increased by 2.6 times (+162.9%), exports grew by 2.7 times (+167.2%), imports by 90%.
