Beijing, May 15 /Xinhua/ — China advocates that, based on the ceasefire regime, the Strait of Hormuz should be reopened as soon as possible. At the same time, it believes that the fundamental solution to the Strait’s problem lies in achieving a long-term and comprehensive ceasefire. This was stated on Friday by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PRC, Wang Yi.
Van I made corresponding statements at a briefing for journalists following the recently concluded meeting in Beijing between CPC Chairman Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump. He also added that China encourages the United States and Iran to continue resolving their disagreements and disputes, including those related to the Iranian nuclear program, through negotiations.
The Chinese side is consistently making efforts to facilitate peaceful negotiations and will continue to play its role in promoting the earliest possible cessation of hostilities and the restoration of peace in the Middle East, added Wan Yi.
