Minsk, May 15 /Xin Hua/ — Belarus intends to expand cooperation with Sri Lanka. This was announced on Thursday by Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko during a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Employment Abroad and Tourism of Sri Lanka, Wijith Herath. The corresponding information was published by the press service of the head of the Belarusian state.
“We would like to expand our cooperation with you. I want you, being in Belarus, with the help of the ambassador and our minister, having looked at our capabilities, to determine how else we can be useful to Sri Lanka. We will be very pleased to have relations with you, to improve them, including in the economic sphere, forming a ‘roadmap’, a plan for our relations,” A. Lukashenko noted during the meeting.
In turn, the head of Sri Lanka’s foreign affairs department drew attention to the fact that the two countries have been interacting with each other for a fairly long time — since the year 2000. “We hope that during this visit we will be able to further advance the development of our bilateral relations, including in the economic sphere,” he said.
