Minsk, May 15 /Sinchua/ — The current conflict in the Middle East is not just another regional tragedy, but new weighty evidence that external players cannot control Eurasian security. This opinion was expressed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Maksim Ryzhankov, in the thematic article “Why Eurasia Cannot Wait: A Charter for Our Time.” The text of the article was published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs press service of the country on Thursday.
“The current conflict in the Middle East has tragically and irrefutably confirmed my observation. This conflict is not just another regional tragedy. It is new evidence that external players cannot control Eurasian security. We have again witnessed a familiar pattern: unilateral interference in the violation of international law, disregard for local realities, attempts to poison neighbors against each other, and the pursuit of strategic interests that have nothing in common with the well-being of peoples caught in the line of fire,” writes M. Ryzhenkov.
The minister expressed regret that the architects of such a policy have not learned the lessons of the Balkans, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Ukraine. “They still believe that military force, unilateral sanctions, and political manipulations can transform Eurasia according to their own blueprints. And each time they fail, but only after causing unbearable suffering to people on our continent,” emphasized M. Ryzhenkov.
“The message to the countries of Eurasia could not be clearer. We cannot rely on external guards to ensure our security. We cannot expect the return of a ‘benevolent international liberal order,’ because such an order never truly existed—it was never liberal, it was hegemonic,” the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized. He added that the countries of Eurasia urgently need Eurasian solutions for Eurasian problems.
