Saint Petersburg, May 14 /TASS/ — The ceremony for the laying of the new Russian frigate of project 22350, named “Admiral of the Fleet Gromov,” took place Thursday at the “Severnaya Verf” shipyard in Saint Petersburg. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
The frigate became the ninth ship of Project 22350. It will serve in the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Navy.
Currently, three ships of project 22350 are being commissioned; they are commissioned as part of the Northern Fleet of Russia.
Project 22350 frigates are designed to address a wide range of tasks in the distant maritime and oceanic zone. “Admiral of the Fleet Gromov” will become a multipurpose surface ship equipped with high-precision long-range missile weapons on board, including hypersonic “Tsirkon” missiles. –0–
