Beijing, May 14 /Xinhua/ — Chairman of the NPC Xi Jinping held a welcome banquet on Thursday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing in honor of U.S. President Donald Trump, who is conducting a state visit to China.
Speaking at the banquet, Xi Jinping said that Sino-American relations are the most important bilateral relations in the modern world.
“We must strive to improve Sino-American relations and not allow their deterioration,” said Xi Jinping, adding that both China and the USA benefit from cooperation and suffer from confrontation.
“Both our countries should be partners, not competitors,” he emphasized.
Si Jinping also said that both sides have agreed to work on building Chinese-American relations of constructive strategic stability in order to promote stable, healthy, and sustainable development of relations between the two countries, to ensure peace, prosperity, and progress in the world on an even larger scale. -0-
