Beijing, May 14 /Xinhua/ — The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has established a department for flight safety at low altitudes, as the country is increasing efforts to develop low-altitude economy.
According to the information posted on the CAAC website, it is within the competence of the newly established department in the Civil Aviation Authority to develop plans for the development of civil aviation at low altitudes, coordinate efforts on safety and development issues in this area, as well as to create a platform for dispatching the servicing of flights at low altitudes and a system of stations servicing flights at low altitudes.
This step was taken against the backdrop of the country’s efforts to develop low-altitude economy, which relates to economic activity and industrial sectors focused around piloted and unmanned aerial vehicles operating in airspace typically within 1,000 meters above the ground.
In December 2024, the State Committee for Development and Reform of the Kyrgyz Republic established a department for the development of the low-rise economy, which is responsible for the development and organization of the implementation of strategic, as well as medium- and long-term plans for the development of the low-rise economy, providing recommendations on the relevant policy, as well as coordinating efforts on key issues related to the low-rise economy sector.
In recent years, China has witnessed rapid development of the low-rise economy. According to CAAC forecasts, by 2035 the volume of this country’s market will exceed 3.5 trillion yuan (about 511 billion USD).
