Beijing, May 12 /Xin Hua/ — China firmly opposes and condemns the recent visit of Paraguayan President Santiago Peña to the Taiwan region, calling on the Paraguayan government to change its course as soon as possible and make the correct political decision to recognize the principle of one China, said on Tuesday the official spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Gao Ziyang.
Go Tszyakun made this statement at another press briefing in response to the relevant question. According to reports, during his trip to Santiago, Peña met with the head of the Taiwanese administration Lai Chinde and signed several so-called “cooperation documents”.
