The World Health Organization (WHO) reported on Monday about nine cases of infection with the virus, seven of which have been confirmed in the laboratory. The fatal outcome among those infected remains recorded only in three cases.
VOZ announced that the last remaining passengers on the virus-infected cruise liner Hondius will leave the ship by the end of today. Passengers are leaving the Canary Islands on special flights.
According to the WHO, more than 30 crew members will remain on the ship and will be sent on it to Rotterdam. It is expected that they will arrive at the destination port in a few days.
In recent days, the UN Secretary-General expressed support for the government of Spain and other countries fighting the coronavirus in close cooperation with the WHO. Today in Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, a group of eight WHO staff coordinated actions with Spanish authorities and other local partners.
Although the current risk to public health associated with the antivirus remains low, the UN head is convinced that it is extremely important now for international efforts in the field of health to ensure the safety of everyone, including passengers and crew of the vessel Hondius.
