Moscow, May 9 /Sina/ — A military parade began on Red Square in Moscow in honor of the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The President of Russia, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin is at the central stand accepting the parade. He stated that Victory Day is a sacred holiday for Russia, care for the homeland unites the entire country.
This year, the parade will be held in a reduced format: for security reasons, military technology has been abandoned. On Red Square, the best cadets and officers representing all types and branches of the armed forces will march in a solemn march. The live broadcast will demonstrate the drill, the precision of the marching step, and modern equipment.
In the aviation segment of the parade, aircraft from the Russian aerobatic teams “Strizhi” (Swifts), “Russkiye Vityazi” (Russian Knights), and others will be involved. The culmination of the parade will be the performance of Su-25 attack aircraft, which traditionally release colored smoke and “draw” the Russian tricolor in the sky.
At the podium are veterans of the Great Patriotic War, their relatives, widows of veterans, and heads of foreign states.
As the assistant to the President of Russia Yuri Ushakov announced in advance, this year special invitations were not sent to foreign leaders, but representatives of a number of states themselves expressed a desire to come to Moscow on these festive days. The President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, the President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, the Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico, the Prime Minister of Malaysia Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar, and the President of the Republic of Serbian Bosnia and Herzegovina Siniša Karan will visit the Russian Federation on May 9. Also, the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will come to Moscow for the celebration, Yuri reported.Ushakov.
After the parade, Vladimir Putin and foreign guests will lay flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Alexander Garden.
