On the territory of the International Children’s Center “Artek” in the Republic of Crimea, work has been completed on the reconstruction and modernization of the wastewater treatment facilities with a capacity of more than 4,500 cubic meters per day. This was reported by the Deputy Chairman of the Government Marat Husnullin.

“Artek” is the pride of our country, and its infrastructure must correspond to the highest level. Therefore, following the President’s directive, we are systematically working on the modernization of the children’s center. This work is aimed at creating modern conditions for rest and development of children. The forces of the “Unified Customer in the Construction Sphere” have completed a large-scale reconstruction of the treatment facilities, which had not been updated since the 1960s. They will have an impact on improving the ecological situation of the Black Sea in the Republic of Crimea. The productivity of the new line is more than 4.5 thousand cubic meters per day.The treatment facilities now operate automatically and allow not only safe discharge of water into natural water bodies but also its use for the technical needs of the center. More than 190 buildings and facilities are connected to the new system,

Before the reconstruction, the general scheme of wastewater disposal from household and domestic sewage represented a system of gravity sewer networks divided into several water catchment basins. Now, on the territory of the world’s largest children’s educational center, a modern system of external water supply and sewerage networks has been equipped.

“The completion of the large-scale reconstruction and modernization of the wastewater treatment facilities complex is yet another step towards the completion of the upgrade of “Artek.” Active work on the reconstruction and construction of the center’s facilities is being carried out under the President’s directive. As of today, 20 facilities of the MDC “Artek” have been commissioned, 4 facilities are at a high level of construction readiness,” reported the first deputy Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services Alexander Lomakin.

“During the reconstruction of the treatment facilities complex, specialists installed biological treatment units, polishing and mechanical dewatering of sludge units, an air-blowing station, a laboratory and a block transformer station. More than 8.5 thousand meters of water supply and sewage networks have been completely renewed, as well as more than 12 thousand meters of external cable lines,” noted the General Director of the PPC “Unified Customer” Karen Oganesyan.

An Innovation Educational Technology Center with an area of more than 27 thousand square meters was previously built on the territory of “Artek”. It includes advanced classrooms, workshops, an amphitheater, artistic and rehearsal halls, and a universal hall for 700 seats. More than 1,000 children will be able to study there simultaneously.

The construction of new and modernization of existing “Artek” facilities are being carried out within the framework of the state program “Socio-economic development of the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.”
