On the eve of Victory Day, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko visited the city of Mariupol of the Donetsk People’s Republic on a working trip. He assessed the educational, youth, sports, and tourist infrastructure.

In kindergarten No. 160 “Rodnichok”, the Vice Premier inspected groups for children of early and middle ages, the music hall, the food unit, and also communicated with children and educators. Dmitry Chernyshenko presented the kindergarten with a certificate for the purchase of training and upbringing resources amounting to 1 million rubles.

“During a visit to a kindergarten in Mariupol, I personally saw the caring, professional attitude of the educators and the joy of the children. The kindergarten operates from 6:30, adjusting to the parents’ schedule. Our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin has repeatedly emphasized the importance of this,” noted the Deputy Prime Minister.

In addition, Dmitry Chernyshenko and the deputy secretary – deputy head of Rosmolodezh Denis Ashirov evaluated the repair and restoration work at the Youth Center in Mariupol. Only from the local budget funds, 63 million rubles were allocated for the equipment and operation of the Youth Center. It is expected that on its basis, an open cinema and concert hall, sports and choreography halls, coworking spaces, lecture halls, workshops, a media studio, as well as spaces for young families will be opened.

Dmitry Chernyshenko noted the active work of the Donetsk People’s Republic in the field of youth policy.

“The Republic has twice won the ‘Region for Youth’ contest. As part of the national project ‘Youth and Children,’ it received about 200 million rubles for the modernization of youth infrastructure. Confidently, the Youth Center in Mariupol will become a place of attraction for young people. Special gratitude is extended to the volunteers, to those who assisted participants of the special military operation and their families. Nearly 50 thousand people are involved in volunteer activities,” said the vice-premier.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted the importance of involving heroes who are returning from the special military operation (SMO) in educational work. On the eve of Victory Day, he also emphasized the necessity of honoring veterans of the SMO and Donbass, expressing gratitude to them.

Dmitry Chernyshenko assessed the restoration of the ice arena “Mariupol Ice Center.” This ice arena was built in 2020. As a result of hostilities, it suffered a number of damages. Currently, within the framework of the program for the restoration of social facilities in Mariupol, its restoration is being completed. Work has already been carried out to replace engineering equipment, the air-supported dome, a new ice generation system has been installed, an open-type fitness and wellness complex has been assembled, sports equipment and inventory have been purchased for organizing activities on the ice.

Dmitry Chernyshenko, together with the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin, visited the “Chaika” hotel in Mariupol. Its restoration is being carried out within the framework of a public-private partnership.

As Denis Pushilin noted, the development of the tourism industry in the region is impossible without the restoration of the hotel sector, and this project can serve as an example of a new level of provision of hotel services.
