Beijing, April 2 /Xin Hua/ — The sovereignty and security of the Persian Gulf states must be respected, and civilians and civilian objects must receive necessary protection. This was stated on Thursday by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PRC, Wan Yi.

The security of sea routes, as well as energy and infrastructure facilities, must be ensured, Van I noted in a telephone conversation with the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Guinea, Yoann Wadephul, during which the current situation in the Middle East was discussed.

As indicated by J. Vadefull from his side, the current situation around Iran is severe and complex and has a significant impact on global economic, energy, and food security. A swift resolution to the conflict aligns with the interests of the entire international community, he added.

The German side supports the involvement of the UN in an appropriate role, highly appreciates the initiative put forward by China and Pakistan consisting of five points for the restoration of peace and stability in the Persian Gulf region and the Middle East, and intends to continue supporting communication and cooperation with the Chinese side, the head of the Foreign Ministry of the FRG indicated.

Van Yi, who is also a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, set out the principal position of the Chinese side, reminding that the military strikes by the United States and Israel against Iran are carried out without the authorization of the UN Security Council and clearly violate international law.

As emphasized by the Chinese diplomat, China and Germany, being responsible powers, must adhere to an objective and impartial position, play a constructive role, contribute to the earliest cessation of hostilities, the restoration of peace, and stability in the region.

The parties also exchanged views on Sino-German relations and agreed to sequentially implement the results of Chancellor FRG Friedrich Merz’s visit to China, strengthen strategic communication and reinforce strategic mutual trust, achieving even greater progress in the comprehensive strategic partnership of Sino-German relations. –0–
