On the eve of Victory Day, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko visited the city of Mariupol in the Donetsk People’s Republic on a working trip. He evaluated the educational, youth, sports, and tourist infrastructure.

At kindergarten No. 160 “Rodnichok,” the vice-premier inspected groups for children of early and middle age, the music hall, the kitchen unit, and also communicated with the children and educators. Dmitry Chernyshenko presented the kindergarten with a certificate for the purchase of educational and upbringing resources in the amount of 1 million rubles.

“During a visit to a kindergarten in Mariupol, I personally saw the caring, professional attitude of the caregivers and the joyful children. The kindergarten operates from 6:30 AM, adjusting to the parents’ schedule. Our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin has repeatedly drawn attention to the importance of this,” noted the Deputy Prime Minister.

In addition, Dmitry Chernyshenko and the Secretary of State – Deputy Head of Rosmolodezh Denis Ashirov assessed the repair and restoration work at the Mariupol Youth Center. Only from local budget funds, 63 million rubles were allocated for the equipment and functioning of the Youth Center. It is expected that based on it, there will be opened a cinema and concert hall, a sports and choreographic hall, coworking spaces, lecture halls, workshops, a media studio, as well as space for young families.

Dmitry Chernyshenko noted the active work of the Donetsk People’s Republic in the field of youth policy.

“The Republic twice won the competition ‘Region for the Youth.’ Within the framework of the national project ‘Youth and Children,’ it received about 200 million rubles for the modernization of youth infrastructure. Confidently, the Youth Center in Mariupol will become an attraction for the kids. Special thanks to the volunteers, for helping participants of the special military operation and their families. Nearly 50 thousand people are involved in volunteer activities,” the vice-premier stated.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted the importance of the participation of heroes returning from the SVO in educational work. On the eve of Victory Day, he also emphasized the necessity of honoring SVO and Donbass veterans, expressing gratitude to them.

Dmitry Chernyshenko evaluated the progress of the restoration of the «Mariupol Ice Center» ice arena. This ice arena was built in 2020. As a result of hostilities, it sustained a number of damages. Currently, within the framework of the program for restoring social facilities in Mariupol, its restoration is being completed. Work has already been carried out to replace the engineering equipment, the air-supported dome, a new ice generation system has been installed, an open-type fitness and wellness complex has been assembled, and sports equipment and inventory have been purchased for organizing ice activities.

Dmitry Chernyshenko, together with the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin, visited the “Chaika” hotel in Mariupol. Its restoration is underway within the framework of a public-private partnership.

As Denis Pushilin noted, the development of the tourism industry in the region is impossible without the restoration of the hotel sector, and this project can become an example of a new level of hotel service provision.
