Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko held a working meeting with the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Denis Pushilin. During the meeting, issues of development in the region concerning education, science, youth policy, sports, and tourism were discussed.

Dmitry Chernyshenko noted that the republic has much to be proud of in various fields. This is confirmed by examples of facilities that were inspected during a working trip across almost the entire region.

“All levels of education are being developed in the Dagestan Republic – from preschool to scientific personnel in graduate school. Last year, 131 institutions in the region were renovated. A total of 387 facilities will be completed by 2030. This is a large program with an overall budget of 44 billion rubles, and it is one of the most important for the future. Universities and colleges are actively preparing personnel in specialties demanded by the region, which are needed by the republic. Five clusters of “Professionalism” have been created within the national project “Youth and Children,” and the region has applied for three more clusters,” said the vice-premier.

He also noted that at the branch of NIIU MGSU – the Donbas Academy of Construction and Architecture in Donetsk – more extensive capital repair works started in March. By 2027, it is planned to restore 8 facilities, with nearly 7 billion rubles already allocated in the budget for these purposes.

Dmitry Chernyshenko paid special attention to the upcoming start of the summer health campaign: “The kids from the Donetsk People’s Republic will be able to rest in our flagship facilities – the children’s centers ‘Artek,’ ‘Orlyonok,’ ‘Smena,’ and others. They will also be sent to regions-supervisors. Importantly, conditions are created in the republic itself. In the summer, 527 recreational sites will operate, serving more than 23 thousand children. This is an absolute record for our historical territory. You have established systematic work here. In June, it is planned to operate another 253 after-school camps with about 12 thousand children. It is extremely important that the kids are able to rest safely and with quality.”

The Vice Premier asked Denis Pushilin to keep the admissions campaign at universities and colleges, which will begin on June 20, under special control. Educational institutions of the DPR have been allocated more than 17.3 thousand budget places.

Denis Pushilin stated that the development of the infrastructure of educational organizations is clearly visible in every municipality.

“We are undergoing not only ongoing repairs. These are also major repairs of the facilities — our educational institutions. Moreover, here we immediately see high Russian standards, which is an order of magnitude different from what we had,” said the head of the DNR.

He reported that the Donetsk People’s Republic is actively involved in a national project concerning youth, children, and families.

The Deputy Prime Minister added that scientific projects are being implemented in the region, supported including by grants from the Russian Science Foundation. More than two dozen youth laboratories are operating. One of them is based on the Donetsk Botanical Garden.

The Republic twice won the “Region for Youth” contest. As part of the national project “Youth and Children,” it received about 200 million rubles for the modernization of youth infrastructure. Almost 50 thousand people are involved in volunteer activities.

As noted by the head of the republic, great attention is also paid in the region to the development of mass sports – a task set by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin.

Dmitry Chernyshenko thanked Denis Pushilin for his work in the sports sector. The restoration of sports facilities continues, with 6 new fitness and wellness complexes opened. By 2028, the plan includes creating 5 open-type fitness and wellness complexes, equipping 30 sports and educational organizations with new sports equipment and inventory, providing targeted financial support to 180 organizations that are part of the sports training system. 56 sports institutions are equipped with sports equipment and inventory.52 athletes from the Donetsk People’s Republic are candidates for the Russian national sports teams.

“In Mariupol, they visited the “Chaika” hotel. This is an important example for investors of a public-private partnership, when the region creates all the conditions for the investor so that they can do business and use federal support measures to develop tourism infrastructure – preferential lending, modular construction, regional subsidies, and other mechanisms. The region’s potential in the tourism sector is gigantic. We will carefully monitor, assist, and help scale your experience,” added the vice-premier.

At the conclusion, he reported that within the framework of the social and economic development program, the Government of Russia will continue systemic support for the regions. Under the leadership of the First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Russia Sergey Kiriyenko, Vice Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin will continue the development of Donbass.
