Beijing, May 8 /Xinhua/ — As cooperation between China and Kazakhstan deepens with the joint implementation of the “Belt and Road” initiative, cross-border passenger flow and freight turnover through the Alashankou Border Port (BPP) in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region / Northwest China / are increasing steadily, according to a statement published on the official website of the Alashankou city government.

According to the statistical data of the local border checkpoint, from January to April 2026, 78,619 vehicles and individuals were inspected and allowed passage at the Alashankou automobile checkpoint, which is 31.03% more compared to the same period last year, and the traffic flow through this border crossing increased by 35.82% in annual terms to 53,374 units/times.
