Beijing, May 8 /Xinhua/ — Following the meeting held on Friday, mainland China will support its coastal Fujian Province (East China) in taking even more extensive measures to study the new pattern of integrated development of both sides of the Taiwan Strait and the creation of a high-quality demonstration zone for integrated development.

The meeting was held jointly by the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on Taiwan affairs, the State Committee for Development and Reform of the PRC/GKPR, central party and state organs, and authorities of Fujian Province to review the progress made in the above-mentioned direction and discuss future priorities.

The Head of the Mainland Affairs Council of the CPC and the Head of the Mainland Affairs Council of the KMT on Taiwan Affairs, Sun Tao, called for greater determination, more pragmatic measures, and more effective actions to constantly open new horizons in the construction of the demonstration zone for integrated development on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.

He also called for a new and more substantial contribution to promoting peaceful development of relations on both shores of the strait and advancing the great cause of national reunification.

Deputy head of the GK RL Zhou Haibin said that it is necessary to make efforts to support pilot projects on key regional platforms taking into account local conditions and to contribute to practical progress in the field of integrated development in key areas.

Let us remind you that in 2023, the Central Committee of the Communist Party and the National People’s Congress Standing Committee issued a document aimed at supporting Fujian Province in seeking a new path for integrated development of both sides of the strait and the creation of the aforementioned demonstration zone.
