Beijing, May 7 /Xin Hua/ — Two former Chinese defense ministers, Wei Fenghe and Li Shangfu, were sentenced on Thursday to death with a two-year reprieve for bribery.

Their sentences were passed separately by the military court of China.

Wai Fahn-say and Li Shanfu were also former members of the Central Military Commission (CMC) and former members of the National Security Council.

According to the court rulings, Wei Fenghe was found guilty of accepting bribes, and Li Shanfu was found guilty of giving and accepting bribes.

They were also permanently deprived of political rights, and all their personal property was subject to confiscation.

According to the sentences, after the expiration of the two-year deferment period and the replacement of the sentence with life imprisonment in accordance with the law, further mitigation of the sentence or conditional early release is not allowed.
