Washington, May 5 /Sina/ — US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that the military operation “Project Freedom,” aimed at removing ships from the Strait of Hormuz, will be suspended to see if a peaceful agreement can be reached between Washington and Tehran.
“While the blockade remains in full force, the ‘Freedom’ project will be suspended for a short period of time to see if the Agreement can be finalized and signed,” D. Trump wrote on the social network Truth Social.
The American president stated that this decision was based on the request of Pakistan and other countries, as well as on the “significant progress… in reaching a full and final agreement with representatives of Iran.”
A few hours earlier, U.S. Secretary of State Mark Rubio stated that the U.S. military campaign against Iran, which began jointly with Israel on February 28, is “completed,” as Washington has shifted its attention to the “Project “Freedom” in an attempt to reopen the world’s most important energy hub.
