Tbilisi, May 5 /Xin Hua/ — The European Parliament’s report on Georgia for 2025 is “another attempt to polarize Georgian society and encourage radical sentiments.” This is stated in the press release of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs published on Tuesday.

The press release notes that the European Parliament report is “detached from reality, deliberately distorts facts, and contains absurd accusations.” The Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also expressed concern that the European Union institutions are being used for a “targeted attack” on the Georgian state and society.

At the same time, the ministry confirmed Tbilisi’s readiness for mutually beneficial cooperation with the EU, based on respect and shared values.

On Tuesday, the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament approved the annual report on Georgia. This is the second annual report dedicated to Georgia as a candidate country for EU membership. The document expresses concern about the state of democracy, the rule of law, and the process of European integration in Georgia. –0–
