At the end of April, the Institute of Industrial Management, Economics and Trade of SPbPU took part in the annual International Student Scientific Conference, organized jointly with the Institute of Economics and Business of the Russian-Armenian University (RAU). The event brought together students and teachers from two countries, becoming an important link in strengthening academic partnership and developing youth science. Several joint sections focusing on key areas of economics, management, and digital transformation were held at the conference.

A distinctive feature of the 2026 conference was the in-person participation of IPMEIT students in the events at the RAU venue in Yerevan. The delegation of economists was led by the head of the Department of Economic Theory, Svetlana Golovkina.

It is a pleasure to see such talented and science-enthusiastic students of our country. Our presence here is a confirmation that science and education are becoming increasingly global and unifying,” said Svetlana Golovkina in her welcoming speech at the opening of the conference.

Students presented reports “The influence of architecture and urbanism on the development of the creative economy” and “The influence of behavioral factors on the stock market.” The works received positive feedback from colleagues from RAE and became a contribution to the development of an interdisciplinary direction at the intersection of economics, sociology, and urban planning.

The joint online section on enterprise management was conducted by the Higher School of Production Management of the IPMET SPbPU and the Department of Management and Business of the Russian-Armenian University.

Cooperation between our structural units is not just an exchange of experience, it is the creation of a unified scientific and educational space where students and teachers of two universities together discuss issues, current questions, and main trends arising in the field of modern enterprise management, emphasized the director of the Graduate School of Production Management Olga Kalinina in her welcoming speech.

Students of the Graduate School of Industrial Management presented topical reports, the themes of which reflected the profile of the educational program: from the management of oil and gas enterprises and management in construction to marketing, business administration, and innovation industrial management. Sanam Yasinova touched upon the issues of implementing additive technologies in the oil and gas sector in the context of import substitution. Yana Maevskaya presented an analysis of the transformation of management models in the conditions of Russian-Armenian business migration.Sharp discussion was caused by the speeches of Viktoria Chukurova and Ilya Kaitmazov, dedicated to the perception by consumers of neural network marketing and the influence of generated AI visual content on the brand image of companies. Anna Berezovskaya in her report linked the geography of social investments of PJSC Gazprom with the priorities of spatial development of Russia, while Nikita Vorobyov analyzed factors of personnel turnover at industrial enterprises in modern conditions.

At the end of the session, the speakers were presented with certificates in a ceremonial setting.

Also at the conference, there was a section “Sustainable development of socio-economic systems in the context of digitalization,” organized by the Higher Engineering and Economic School of IPMEIT. The program of the section covered a wide range of relevant directions — from macroeconomic analysis and financial innovations to behavioral economics and assessments of the digital maturity of business. The report by Marianna Belous and Nikita Osipov, dedicated to the prospects of implementing the digital ruble in the budget process and smart contracts as tools for strengthening the economic security of the state, sparked a lively professional discussion, confirming the high level of training of VIÉSH students and their readiness to address the pressing challenges of the digital economy.

At the site of the Russian-Armenian University, the sections “Production and consumption: modern trends” and “Features of investment processes in the modern economy” also operated under the chairmanship of the head of the Department of Economic Theory and Problems of Economic Development of one period, Irina Petrosyan. Svetlana Golovkina, head of the Department of Economic Theory of St. Petersburg State University, also participated in the work.

Parallel to the student conference, Associate Professor of the Department of Economic Theory of IPMEIT Elena Vdovina conducted classes under the program for advanced training of teachers “Adaptation to the cross-cultural educational environment in the field of teaching economic disciplines in a foreign language.” At the end of the training, the attendees were awarded certificates confirming a new level of qualification for teachers from RAE.

Joint sections of IPMET and RAE within the framework of the International Student Conference 2026 once again demonstrated the effectiveness of academic partnership. Politicians, together with foreign colleagues, continue to develop scientific dialogue, uniting efforts to train a new generation of researchers and managers.
