The implementation of artificial intelligence in management processes and collaborative scientific projects in the field of advanced technologies will be undertaken by the State University of Management and the V.P. Ivannikov Institute for System Programming of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ISP RAS).
On May 4, the director of the ISP RAN, Arutyun Avetisyan, met with the rector of SPbGU, Vladimir Stroev, and the vice-rector of SPbGU, Maria Karelin, to determine the main directions of future cooperation.
The rector of GUU reminded about the university’s historical engineering heritage and achievements in the field of science over the past few years.
“Few remember that until the 1990s our university was not only managerial but also engineering, preparing professional leaders who understood the nuances of specific industries and knew all the internal production processes. Today we are restoring our competencies in this area. Our student design bureau has already been recognized as one of the best in the country, modern laboratories have been opened, and agreements concluded with industrial partners for personnel training and the implementation of research and development,” emphasized Vladimir Stroev.
Maria Karelina provided specific examples of projects: “ABLIS” and “Geomap,” implemented within the framework of the PIS “RosgeoTech”, a scientific project on food security, drone swarm management, developments in predictive modeling, artificial intelligence, logistics, and others.
In turn, Arutyun Avetisyan acquainted himself with the directions of the Institute’s work, noting the importance of systematic and joint work in the field of modern technologies for the success of every member of society.
“In 2021, a Trusted Artificial Intelligence Research Center was established based on our institute. Today, we are working on creating a unified system of certification audit for Russian-language AI models. The necessity of creating such a platform to consolidate existing data and reduce the number of inaccuracies produced by neural network models is already evident. We believe that we need to work collectively, which is why we are developing directions within thematic consortia. This allows us to combine efforts and increase work efficiency,” said the director of the ISP RAS.
Considering the importance and success of AI developments in the field of unmanned systems, Arutyun Avetisyan proposed that the university join the future Consortium on this direction, as well as engage in the development of programs for the implementation of artificial intelligence in management processes and the study of the possibilities of using the latest technologies in public service.
The parties agreed on a future visit of scientists engaged in relevant research for a detailed discussion of working issues, as well as on the possibility of representatives of ISP RAS conducting an open lecture for GUE students interested in the field of AI and neural networks.
