Almaty, May 4 /Xin Hua/ — The National Welfare Fund of Kazakhstan “Samruk-Kazyna” reported on Monday about the completion of the modernization of the railway section Altynkol — Zhetygen, which is part of the Trans-Caspian international transport route (TMTM).
The work was carried out by the national railway company of Kazakhstan “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy.” It is reported that the throughput capacity of the section has increased by 80%, which will improve the speed and reliability of freight transportation.
Within the framework of the project, 293 km of railway infrastructure have been modernized, 12 separate stations were put into operation, including 5 new and 7 reconstructed ones, new receiving and dispatch tracks were built, and a microprocessor-based centralized control system was also introduced.
The company noted that the modernization of this site is an important element of the development of TMTM.
Approximately 3,000 km of railways are currently being modernized across the country, of which 900 km have been updated as of today. –0–
