New York, May 2 /Sina/ — The bankrupt American low-cost airline Spirit Airlines on Saturday ceased its operations after failing to secure creditor support for the proposed federal aid package, marking the first bankruptcy case of an airline carrier related to the war in Iran.
The airline announced on its website about the cancellation of all flights, adding that customer support services are no longer available.
The cessation of operations followed a sharp increase in aviation fuel prices, which doubled approximately in two months of the conflict, increasing financial pressure on carriers who were already experiencing difficulties.
