New York, May 1 /Xinhua/ — U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday signed a decree introducing new sanctions against the Cuban government.

D. Trump ordered that all property and rights to property located in the United States or coming into this territory, as well as all property located in the possession or control of U.S. citizens, be blocked and not subject to transfer, payment, export, withdrawal, or other operations with them.

This decree is also aimed at restricting Cuba’s access to the global banking system by introducing secondary sanctions against individuals, organizations, and financial institutions conducting transactions with those subject to sanctions due to their connections with Cuba.

According to the directive, the U.S. government is authorized to impose sanctions on foreign financial institutions that have conducted or facilitated transactions on behalf or in the interest of persons connected with the Cuban government. –0–
