Kunming, April 30 /Xin Hua/ — At least 7 people died and another 12 were injured on Thursday as a result of a traffic accident in one of the counties of Yunnan Province /Southwest China/. This was reported by the local public security bureau.
In the first half of the day in Yuan’an County, a motor vehicle carrying 19 people overturned. As indicated by the county public security department, the number of people in the cabin corresponded to the maximum capacity.
Two people were declared dead at the scene of the incident, 17 others received injuries and were taken to the hospital. Five of the injured later died despite doctors’ efforts.
Police officers, firefighters, medics, emergency and transport service workers who arrived at the scene deployed rescue operations.
An investigation into the cause of the traffic accident is currently underway and measures are being taken to eliminate the consequences. –0–
