Road works on the national project “Infrastructure for Life” have started in 44 regions. In total, by 2026, more than 19 thousand km of regional and local road networks will be built, reconstructed, and repaired, including major repairs, to achieve the national project’s indicators.

“This year, due to prolonged bad weather in a number of regions of Russia, the start of the road season shifted, and it will be possible to begin work later than usual. Nevertheless, over the past few years, we have formed an effective unified road management team across the entire country. Thanks to the interaction between the federal center and the regions, as well as competent organization, we promptly mobilize forces.”Today, road workers have started repairs in more than 40 regions of the Russian Federation, including Saint Petersburg, Kirov, Kurgan, Novgorod regions, Krasnodar Krai, Kabardino-Balkaria, Adygea, Ingushetia, Dagestan, as well as border regions such as Belgorod and Bryansk regions. It is important now not to slow down the pace, but on the contrary, to work harder to catch up on the backlog and achieve all the goals of the national project “Infrastructure for Life” by 2026,” said Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.

Resource provision for road works and the quality of materials used are key factors for the successful implementation of the national project.

“In total, this year 19.7 thousand km of regional and local road networks will be constructed, reconstructed, and repaired, including capital repairs. The pavement laying area will be 140.1 million square meters. For the successful implementation of these plans, it is important to comply with a number of conditions so that the new pavement meets GOST standards and withstands the inter-repair period. This includes product acceptance control, necessary equipment, and high-quality inert materials.””Before the start of road works, a thorough inspection of asphalt concrete plant equipment is carried out – this year, 900 such enterprises will be involved for the purposes of the national project, part of which is already operating at full capacity,” noted Minister of Transport Andrey Nikitin.

The list of objects of the national project is formed taking into account the transport-operational condition of the road surface, and demand, including the presence of nearby socially significant institutions, as well as considering requests from local residents.

The main goal of the national project “Infrastructure for Life” is to improve the quality of life of Russians, therefore, traditionally, the sections of regional and local roads that lead to medical, educational, and sports institutions, as well as tourist sites, are at the center of attention. We will also continue to renew access roads to remote settlements. Another important aspect is the development of transport infrastructure for seamless logistics, which contributes to the economic development of regions.”Therefore, among the priorities is the development and modernization of the backbone road network,” emphasized the Deputy Head of the Federal Road Agency, Kairat Tursunbekov.

In 2026, 15 road sections (more than 50 km) will be repaired in Saint Petersburg. Currently, work is underway on Parashyutnaya Street from Dolgoozernaya to the KAD – this is an important link for the Primorsky district, providing access to social facilities and parks. By the end of May, about 50 thousand tons of asphalt concrete will be laid, then by June, sidewalks, markings, fences will be completed, and landscaping will be carried out.

In Kabardino-Balkaria, under the national project “Infrastructure for Life,” 10 facilities (73 km) will be brought up to standard, including two bridges. A major overhaul is underway for 7.6 km of the Novopavlovsky – Prolazny – Mozdok route. The road connects several districts of the republic and is part of the backbone network. At the 21st km of this road, a flyover over the railway is being reconstructed.

In Kirov, 16 sections (18.7 km) are being renovated, with active work on Traktovaya Street, Lepse, Zagorodnaya, and Oktyabrsky Avenue. The regional highway will be brought up to the 100 km/h standard, with 48 km of it forming the main network. The key project is the reconstruction of 16 km of the Pinyug – Skryabino road. Instead of slabs and crushed stone, asphalt will be laid on it, which will improve the transport accessibility of the three districts. Fourteen culverts have already been installed, and dismantling and foundation work is underway.
