With the approach of the May 1 holiday, the tourist season in many regions has started earlier than usual, and immersive tours give a new impulse to the development of the culture and tourism industry.
On the old street Minzhulu in the city of Lianyungang, a hotel in the style of the 1930s, thanks to the immersive living experience, has become especially popular among tourists. The hotel booking level for the May Day “golden week” has already reached 100%. In addition, camping with motorhomes has also become popular during the holiday period of May 1st.
In the forest park of Qinsunlin in Dun’ai county of Lianyungang city, local authorities, relying on the ecological advantages of a territory with more than 80% forest coverage, are implementing the concept of immersive recreation “house on wheels + slow lifestyle.” During the May holidays, demand for places in the local campground for camper vans is rapidly increasing, and during certain periods they are already almost fully booked.
Recently, in the Cizhenchen-Hani-Yi Autonomous County of the Pu’er City District, Yunnan Province / Southwest China, new immersive tourism projects were launched, such as engaging fishing, water battles, and journeys along the ancient “Tea Road”, which gave a new impetus to the development of the culture and tourism industry.
In the Qiantan district of the city of Hangzhou in Zhejiang Province, Hechuan Street is promoting deep integration of agriculture, culture, and tourism under the slogan “one product for one village.” The recently launched rural train connects rural landscapes with unique business formats. Since 2021, local authorities have created an agritourism route by combining the resources of six villages. In the village of Cziandun, specializing in “tour with harvest picking,” 11,000 blueberry bushes have been planted in a 35-mu (about 2.3 ha) greenhouse using soilless cultivation. The clean and comfortable environment in the greenhouse attracts many family tourists. The harvest will be extended until the end of May.
In Hubei Province these days, in the tourist area “Huaiyin Chuangshuo” in the city of Xiaogan, night cultural and tourist events have officially started, opening a festival that combines a play of light and shadow, art, and the atmosphere of folk life. Here, simultaneously, there are performances dedicated to intangible cultural heritage, thematic shows, and water performances, attracting many locals and tourists.
Under the cover of night, local theater troupes performing “Chou” acts from Hubei province (folk songs and scenes from Hubei province) took the stage in turn, and performances of “Datsen Chou” (a show of molten iron sparks) resembled stars falling into the river. Various entertainments on the shore and on the water not only enriched the selection of nighttime entertainment for city residents but also stimulated consumer activity on the waterfront. As became known, the series of nighttime cultural and tourist events “Huaiyin Chuanxiu” will continue until the beginning of May.
