A working meeting was held at the State University of Management with the director of the Institute of Social Demography of the FNIIT RAS, Tamara Kerimovna Rostovskaya. The topic of discussion was the development of the demographic agenda in the higher education system and the role of SUM as a university that trains managers for key areas of public and state life.

At the center of the discussion was the training of specialists capable of working with demographic development issues not formally, but systemically: through governance, social policy, family support, territorial development, and intergenerational ties.

“Connection with the academic community facilitates the task,” noted Tamara Rostovskaya, emphasizing the importance of partnership between the RAS and GUU.

The participants of the meeting discussed possible formats of cooperation between GUU and RAN: conducting open lectures, round tables, joint scientific events, development of additional professional education programs, and inclusion of demographic topics in the current educational fields.

The Vice-Rector of GUU, Mariya Yuryevna Karelina, emphasized that the launch of new educational initiatives requires responsible support, a strong expert base, and a well-thought-out organizational model. Such support allows the university not only to respond to the current agenda but also to build sustainable and in-demand solutions.

Special attention was given to the involvement of students. Nikolai Nikolaevich Mishailev, an advisor at the rectorate of the State University of Management, noted that it is important to create substantive projects that will help students engage in the demographic agenda and see its practical significance.

As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue discussing practical steps. Among the possible directions are joint events at the GYY site, participation of RAN representatives in the university’s educational and scientific projects, as well as the development of additional professional education programs.

The meeting became a step towards the development of a direction in which the management expertise of the GUU can be in demand at the state level. Today, demography requires not only research, but also specialists capable of translating scientific conclusions into specific management decisions.
