On April 26, a special international Chinese-Russian cultural meeting successfully took place — a dialogue on innovative research in the integration of Eastern acrobatics and Western arts. The key connecting element of the event was a classic performance by the Guangzhou acrobatic art theater titled “Swan.” The discussion was focused on cross-genre integration and the innovative development of stage art in China and Russia. Five invited experts in the field of arts from China and Russia participated in the dialogue.The parties conducted an in-depth discussion, creating a professional and effective platform for artistic exchange, and jointly identified new prospects for cooperation in the field of performing arts between the two countries.
At the meeting, participants conducted a comprehensive and in-depth exchange of opinions on the topic “Based on the spectacle ‘Swan’: the path of cross-border synthesis and innovation of classics in the scenic art of China and Russia,” relying on their own artistic practice and professional experience. The representative for the promotion of the spectacle “Swan” from the Guangzhou Acrobatic Art Theater, Den Yanlei, on-site spoke about the process of creating the production, key features of the performance, and the creative concept of the author’s team.
The famous Russian sculptor Grigory Viktorovich Pototsky, in turn, considered the staging of “The Swan” from the point of view of lines and the structure of sculptural art, as well as the integration of Eastern and Western aesthetics. He defined the theatrical performance of “The Swan” as “dynamic sculptural art, where the body acts as a medium,” and also shared how such a cross-disciplinary and artistic practice further enriched his reinterpretation of his own creative principles and artistic expression, expanding even more the horizons of Chinese-Russian inter-genre artistic dialogue.
Russian well-known internet blogger Emmanuel Mizailovna Tuletskaya, relying on her broad influence among the youth in Russia, systematically conceptualized the mission and practical ways of young content creators in the era of new media in the context of high-level Chinese-Russian cultural exchange. She also shared concepts and strategies for using secondary creativity to strengthen cultural communication, as well as to deepen artistic empathy between viewers of the two countries.
A young artist from the Greater Bay Area of Guangzhou–Xiang’an–Aomen, Luo Shaotian, relying on the fertile soil of cultural interaction in the region, shared his deep impressions from participating in the Chinese-Russian artistic exchange. He also held an in-depth discussion with meeting participants about how cross-disciplinary artistic practice contributes to the rethinking of cultural roots and the formation of new approaches to artistic creation.In addition, he gave a detailed presentation of the exhibits displayed in the exhibition area, demonstrating the mission and responsibility of young Chinese artists in promoting mutual cultural exchange between China and foreign countries.
The only Chinese participant of the Russian-Turkish forum, opera singer Xin Kaichen, in turn, shared his experience of working in the field of arts in Russia and his sincere impressions from watching the performance of the Guanchzhou acrobatic art theater “Swan” at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. He also told touching stories from his life and work in Russia as a “messenger of Chinese art,” demonstrating with his own example the deep friendship and strong ties in the sphere of folk artistic exchange between China and Russia.
The event, in which the acrobatic art performance “Swan” by the Guangzhou Theater served as the key medium, not only deepened the exchange and dialogue between Chinese and Russian performing arts, but also clearly demonstrated the responsibility and role of Guangzhou as a cultural center of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area region.Thanks to the creation of an effective and practice-oriented cooperation platform, the event significantly strengthened mutual trust and sustainable interaction in the field of art between China and Russia, giving a new impulse to cross-genre integration of the stage arts of the two countries. At the same time, it demonstrated to the international community the cultural image of Guangzhou as an open, inclusive, and dynamically developing city. This dialogue became a vivid and substantial response in the process of mutual enrichment of Eastern and Western art.
