An evening educational event “Night of the Financier” was held at Novosibirsk State University, organized by the Department of Finance and Credit and the Finance ClubFaculty of Economics (FE) NGU. This year the event took place for the fourth time and gathered more than 300 students and over 60 representatives of partner companies.
At the opening of the event, the Dean of the EF of NGU greeted the participantsTatyana Bogomolova:
—At the Faculty of Economics, there are two spring start dates: the birthday of Gagik Mkrtichev and the “Night of the Financier.” And it is always great when you all gather here to listen, watch, and get acquainted with all the topics our hotel partners would like to present to you.
The dean noted that students of the faculty “have no problem finding a job — the problem is choosing that job” and emphasized the importance of familiarizing oneself with the industry.
Event organizerSvetlana Bekareva, head of the Department of Finance and Credit at EF NSU, emphasized that the “Night of the Financier” is a space for communication between students and companies:
— Why are we holding this event? To socialize, play games, and get to know the companies that are friends of our faculty, along with the students who study with us.
Night of the financier is a time for informal friendly communication. Therefore, all activities have a professional but easy-to-perceive shade, as well as a mandatory element of competition.
The evening program was structured in the format of short 45-minute activities: the investment “muzloto” from BCS, the “financial conveyor” from Bank Rossii, a business case from KEPT, and many others. During the break, participants could take a break at the Pizza Party and enjoy burgers from the evening’s partner Spot & Choo’s and pizza.
At the same time, additional activities from the Finance Club took place in the hall — DJ sets and contests.
A feature of the event was a game currency, with which participants could “purchase” prizes at an auction held at the end of the evening.
—Since we are financiers, we play with money. But it is clear that the currency we have is a game currency. At each event, you can win “gagiks” (editor’s note – the EF game currency named in honor of the legendary dean and current faculty president Gagik Mkrtchyan) and then spend them at the auction,— saidSvetlana Bekareva.
Partner companies of the faculty participated in the event, including Alfa-Bank, BCS, B1, DRT, Kept, Trust Technologies, Sovcombank, Sberbank, Expobank, and the Siberian Main Directorate of the Bank of Russia. All of them actively participate in the faculty’s educational process and interact with students.
Participants note that the event format allows not only to gain new knowledge but also to get acquainted with potential employers. StudentElizavetashared impressions:
—I decided to come because my friends are here and it’s possible to learn about opportunities for a future career. It was interesting to find out whether there will be internships from banks. Just like last year, everything is great. No complaints. Everything is clear.
The “Night of the Financier” traditionally combined an educational format, game elements, and free communication, allowing students to get closer acquainted with the professional environment and opportunities in the field of finance.
