Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Dmitry Patrushev met with the Minister for Climate Change and Environment of the UAE Amna bint Abdullah Al-Dabbagh Al-Shamsi and the Minister of Foreign Trade of the UAE Thani bin Ahmed Al-Zeyoudi. The parties discussed the interaction between the two countries in the trade and economic sphere, as well as in the field of ecology.

“We highly value the partnership with the United Arab Emirates in the field of environmental protection and rational nature management. We have cooperation practically in all international environmental platforms, including BSEC and UNEP. We also collaborate within the framework of the so-called Rio Conventions, aimed at solving a number of interrelated environmental problems,” said Dmitry Patrushev.

Two countries are cooperating within the framework of the Russian-Emirati working group on discussing issues of biodiversity, dealings with wetlands, and cooperation in the field of hydrometeorology. The Vice Prime Minister noted geology and subsoil use as a promising direction for strengthening bilateral cooperation.

In addition, the creation of the BRICS grain exchange was discussed at the meeting. The initiative was supported by the leaders of all member countries, and at present, the details of its operation are being worked out.

Also participating in the meeting were the Head of the Department of Economic Development of Abu Dhabi, Ahmed Al-Zaabi, Chairman of the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, Ahmed bin Sulayem, and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the UAE to Russia, Mohammed Ahmed Sultan Essa Al-Jaber.
