Bishkek, April 29 /Xinhua/ — On April 25, 2026, it will be 30 years since the signing in Beijing of the joint China-Russia declaration that recorded the transformation of bilateral relations into a format of “strategic interaction.” On July 16, 2026, the 25th anniversary of the signing in Moscow of the Treaty on Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation between China and Russia will be celebrated.
On the occasion of the aforementioned events, the Ambassador of the PRC in Kyrgyzstan, Liu Zijian, and the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Kyrgyzstan, Sergey Vakunov, published a joint article on the website of the Kyrgyzstan National News Agency Kabar, in which they focused attention on continuity and innovation in bilateral cooperation over the past decades.
The article notes that, guided by the joint declaration and agreement, China-Russia relations have acquired a powerful internal driving force and independent value, demonstrating a high degree of stability and continuity amid a rapidly changing international situation.

Thanks to the far-sighted leadership of the heads of the two states, the relationship of all-encompassing partnership and strategic interaction in a new era between China and Russia maintains a consistently high level of development. Both sides invariably consider each other as priority partners and provide firm support to each other on issues concerning fundamental interests, including sovereignty, territorial integrity, security, and development.
“Russia and China possess a high level of political mutual trust and are not subject to external provocations and pressure. The relations between the two countries have the character of “back-to-back” interaction and are distinguished by significant strategic stability,” the authors state.
The joint declaration and agreement played a significant role in accelerating trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. By 2025, the bilateral trade turnover exceeded an impressive mark of 200 billion US dollars, with China firmly maintaining its position as Russia’s main trading partner, while Russia occupies the fifth place among China’s main trading partners.
Bilateral cultural and humanitarian exchanges are steadily deepening. China and Russia have successfully conducted Years of scientific and technological and innovation cooperation, Years of sports, and Years of culture. The heads of the two states jointly announced 2026 and 2027 as the Years of Education of China and Russia, which have already become the tenth consecutive thematic cross-year for the two countries.
The joint declaration and agreement also laid a solid foundation for deepening coordination in foreign policy activities, had a profound impact on the countries’ positions on international affairs and relations with third countries, and made a significant contribution to the formation of the conceptual basis of such authoritative associations as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS.
“Russia and China, being victorious states in World War II and independent centers of power in the emerging multipolar world, intend together with peace-loving peoples of all countries to firmly adhere to the correct view of the history of World War II, resolutely defend the post-war international order, and firmly uphold the principles of international honesty and justice,” the article states.
Two countries are actively promoting the linkage of the joint construction of the “Belt and Road” and the Eurasian Economic Union, aiming to elevate regional cooperation in the Eurasian space to a higher level and deepen its content.
Kyrgyzstan is a friendly neighbor and strategic partner for both Russia and China. “Russia and China are ready to continue contributing to strengthening stability, ensuring sustainable development, harmony, and interconnectedness in Central Asia,” the diplomats emphasize.
The article notes that over the past decades, Sino-Russian relations have consistently developed, invariably contributing to maintaining stability in the world and shaping a positive international agenda.
“The parties intend to further comprehensively implement the agreements reached at the highest level, to bring relations to a qualitatively new level of all-encompassing partnership and strategic interaction, to jointly promote equal and orderly multipolarity of the world, as well as inclusive and universally accessible economic globalization, to demonstrate the responsibility of the great powers in the system of global governance, to contribute to the formation of a more just and democratic world order and to strengthen the role of the Global South in international affairs,” the article states. -0-
