Beijing, April 29 /Xinhua/ — The accusations made by the USA against China, related to the Panama Canal, are absolutely unfounded and represent an attempt to portray black as white, said the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, Lin Qian, on Wednesday.
“The United States politicizes issues related to ports and imparts to them the character of security issues, and no one else but the United States plays the role of innocent and throws accusations in various directions,” Lin Xian remarked at the daily press conference, commenting on the request of the media to express statements by officials from the United States and several other countries presenting China as a “threat” to Panama, and China’s actions as an “open attempt to politicize maritime trade.” -0-
