Seoul, April 29 /Xinhua/ — According to today’s ruling of the Seoul court, the prison term of the former President of the Republic of Korea, Yun Suk-yeol, was increased to seven years for obstruction of arrest.
The court overturned the decision of the court of first instance and ruled to extend the prison term from five to seven years.
The court explained that the obstruction of the first attempt to arrest Youn Suk-yeol constituted an abuse of power and a deliberate creation of obstacles in the performance of official duties, noting that the obstruction of the second attempt to arrest also constituted an abuse of power.
The court recognized that the execution of the first order to arrest Yun Sok Elia was lawful, and the order to search the president’s residence was carried out on a lawful basis.
Yun Sok Elyu was charged with abuse of powers of the presidential service of the OSRAN during an attempt by officers of the anti-corruption agency to execute an arrest warrant in January 2025. –0–
