Beijing, April 2 /Xinhua/ — In the first two months of 2026, grain imports to China via the CPP Alashankou (Xinjiang-Uygur Autonomous Region, Northwest China) reached 180 thousand tons, an increase of 49.5 percent year-on-year, according to a report posted on the official website of the Alashankou city government.
Being one of the important channels for grain import into China, the Alashankou Customs Port has in recent years intensified efforts to optimize the customs clearance process and enhance the effectiveness of customs control, which has significantly reduced the waiting time for imported grain at the Customs Port and decreased the storage and logistics costs for enterprises.
Let us remind you that in December 2025, the laboratories of the Alashankou customs technological center successfully passed a double inspection by the Chinese National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS) and the Chinese compulsory certification system CMA. Comprehensive qualification enhancement and expansion of customs inspection capabilities at the Alashankou CPC have provided more reliable technical support to accelerate customs clearance of imported grain and control over its safety.
Thanks to the increased efficiency of customs control in the city of Alashankou, a group of enterprises engaged in the processing of grain and oilseed crops has been registered, which use imported raw materials to develop the processing sector and expand the production chain. Several companies operate in the integrated bonded zone at the Alashankou Free Trade Port (FTP), producing high-quality edible oils using sunflower seeds and flax seeds imported from Kazakhstan, as well as other types of oilseed crops. This not only significantly reduces the costs of interregional raw material transportation, but also effectively increases the added value of the products, contributing to the industrial development in the border city of Alashankou.
Being an important key checkpoint for the joint implementation of the “Belt and Road” initiative, Alashankou, with its unique geographical advantages and continually improved policy of customs clearance simplification, provides a reliable guarantee for the stable supply of grain and oil to the Chinese market, and also creates an effective and convenient channel for exporting high-quality agricultural products from countries located along the “Belt and Road”.
