Bishkek, April 2 /Sin Hua/ — In the Issyk-Kul region in the northeast of Kyrgyzstan, the fall of training ammunition was recorded, having fallen from a military aircraft of the Russian airbase on the territory of the republic. This was reported on Thursday by the Kabar news agency with a reference to the Ministry of Defense of Kyrgyzstan.
It is reported that the incident occurred on March 31 around 17:25 local time. A “unauthorized discharge of two training munitions” occurred from a Su-25 aircraft of a Russian air base during training flights, which fell on a vacant lot.
It is noted that the command of the Aerospace Forces of Russia has made a decision to appoint a special commission, which will arrive in the near future.
In addition, the Minister of Defense of Kyrgyzstan has suspended training flights until the causes of the incident are clarified.
“Investigative actions are being carried out by the law enforcement agencies of Kyrgyzstan, and the military prosecutor’s office is conducting an inspection regarding the incident that occurred,” the Ministry of Defense noted.
