During a working trip to the Smolensk region, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev discussed with the head of the region Vasily Anoshin issues of development of the agro-industrial complex, rural areas, and environmental well-being.

“Smolenshchina is one of the important economic centers of the Non-Black Earth Zone of our country. The agro-industrial complex holds great significance for the region’s economy. The Smolensk region is an important producer of certain types of grain crops, for example, rye. Historically, it has been a leader in the volume of flax-dolgunets. To support the agro-industrial complex and the development of rural areas in the region, the Government of Russia allocated more than 1.5 billion rubles in 2026, which is noticeably higher than the 2025 figure,” said Dmitry Patrushev.

The Deputy Prime Minister drew attention to the fact that in the near future, spring fieldwork should begin in the Smolensk region, and emphasized the importance of controlling the availability of necessary material and technical resources for farmers.

Dmitry Patrushev noted that there are prospects for the development of crop production in the region, since significant areas of arable land are concentrated here.

The Deputy Chairman of the Government and the governor also discussed issues of natural resource management and environmental protection. The events of the national project “Ecological Well-being” in the region include measures aimed at forest conservation and the construction of infrastructure for waste management. Dmitry Patrushev emphasized the importance of monitoring the deadlines for plan implementation. In addition, specific questions concerning the further development of the national park “Smolenskoye Poozerye” were raised during the meeting.

During the working trip, Dmitry Patrushev visited several facilities. Among them is a site where a large-scale reconstruction of the former mill complex is being completed. Currently, one of the largest feed production plants for fish in the country is being built here. In addition, the Deputy Prime Minister assessed the capacities of the largest linen producer in Russia.
