On April 23, the PLAN held events in the format of an “Open Day” simultaneously in 22 cities. More than 40 active warships were presented to the public, many of which were open to the public for the first time. In terms of the number and variety of warship types, this event became the largest in the history of the Chinese Navy.

This time, not only various types of active combat ships were open to the public, such as the 052D-class missile destroyer, the 054A-class missile frigate, and the 071-class universal landing ship, but also auxiliary vessels, including universal supply ships, training ships, universal rescue vessels for submarines, and hospital ships, which demonstrated the diversified capabilities of the PLA Navy in the field of combat support, as well as its openness and confidence in itself.

Many of these ships participated in such important missions as escorting vessels in the Gulf of Aden, visiting foreign ports, and joint military exercises. For some of them, this was their first visit to a province or city, in honor of which they were named. In addition, the Navy simultaneously opened to the public the airfields of naval aviation bases, naval piers, barracks, and other military facilities.
