Beijing, April 26 /Xinhua/ — China expresses sharp dissatisfaction with the European Union’s (EU) decision to include Chinese companies in its 20th package of anti-Russian sanctions and firmly opposes this, despite China’s repeated statements and objections, the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China said on Saturday.
China has repeatedly stated its firm rejection of unilateral sanctions imposed without the authorization of the UN Security Council, and also resolutely opposes the application by the European side of the so-called “long-arm jurisdiction” in relation to Chinese companies and individuals, the representative said.
According to him, this step by the EU contradicts the consensus reached between the leaders of China and the EU, and also seriously undermines mutual trust between China and the EU and harms bilateral relations as a whole.
China calls on the EU to immediately exclude Chinese enterprises and individuals from the sanction lists, adhere to the consensus of leaders of both sides, and find ways to resolve relevant issues through dialogue and consultations, said the representative.
China will take unprecedented measures to resolutely protect the lawful rights and interests of Chinese enterprises, a representative said, adding that full responsibility for any possible consequences will lie entirely with the EU. -0-
