Manila, April 26 /Xinhua/ — The Philippines, chairing the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) this year, convened high-ranking officials to assess the impact of the evolving situation in the Middle East on global and regional energy markets, focusing attention on the stability of oil and gas supplies, price volatility, and potential disruptions in supply chains, the country’s energy ministry reported on Sunday.

At the meeting, officials emphasized the necessity of strengthening monitoring systems, increasing data transparency, and developing strategies for creating strategic stocks and reserves for emergencies, taking into account national conditions.

In a separate statement from the regional bloc, it is said that its participants emphasized the urgency of improving ASEAN’s mechanisms for collective readiness and response, while simultaneously strengthening regional solidarity and coordinated political actions to counter emerging risks. –0–
